The vision for a PCA church at the western edge of the county began many years ago in the heart and mind of Don Hoke and Cedar Springs Church. With that in mind, 12 acres of land was procured at the corner of Kingston Pike and North Hobbs Road near the Knox/Loudon County line.
In August of 1994, the Reverend Jim Barnes was called by Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church to be the church planter for the new church. Reverend Barnes and his family moved to Knoxville and began services in the Cedar Springs Chapel in September 1994. The church moved to the Farragut Middle School in November 1994 and met there until April of 2005.
Construction began on the first phase of the overall building plan in December 2003. The church began meeting in their new facility in April of 2005.
Phase One of the overall master plan includes a worship center, children and youth wing, adult classrooms and offices for the staff.
Phase Two will include an education wing.
Phase Three will include the permanent sanctuary and offices for the staff.
Phase Four will include an athletic building with gymnasium, a racquetball court, walking track and aerobic rooms
Currently, Christ Covenant is likewise planting two churches in Knoxville. Redeemer Church began in 2003 and is meeting downtown in the Candy Factory, while United Faith Community Church, an African-American congregation is meeting in Click Funeral Home in West Knoxville.
