MOH 4Our church has had a long relationship with Black Mountain Elementary School in Evarts, KY. For the past twenty-one years, we have served this school in different capacities, serving through the Mission of Hope ministry. In the past several months, there has been an even greater need in the Harlan County area. 98% of the students at Black Mountain are presently receiving free or reduced lunch due to the poor economy in the Kentucky coalfields. Consequently, the outlook for this upcoming Christmas is very bleak for many of the children.

MOH 5This Christmas season Mission of Hope is delivering only one preselected toy, a Bible, and a word puzzle book for each child due to covid restrictions in the ministry warehouse. Food boxes and hygiene bags will also be given to the school. Because of this shortfall, we as a church have been given the opportunity to supply an assortment of toys so that children may select a gift in addition to the prepackaged bag. New clothing items for the students are a great need as well.

MOH 2Here is how your family may participate in this opportunity:
Beginning SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14, Christmas trees decorated with clothing and toy tags for boys and girls will be in church lobby. Please choose a tag and purchase the item(s) needed. The toy tags have suggestions on the back if you need ideas.
Return your gift to the boxes in the church lobby by Sunday, December 5.

Many of the people that we serve in Kentucky are struggling in the midst of poverty and as a result have lost hope for the future. May God show his love and provisions through us to these precious families.
