Update from Mike and Carrie Meisenheimer - Nov.2016
Happy Thanksgiving friends!
We continue to be so thankful for the work God is doing in and around us through the ministry of Campus Outreach. We honestly feel so privileged to be involved and watch God work! Thank YOU for being a valuable part in making it possible for us through your prayers and faithful gifts. One thing we love about our job is investing in our staff men and women. They are young 20 somethings who are giving their lives to college students and growing personally as they navigate life on their own. Many of our staff have come to faith in college through our ministry. So, one of our main jobs is to help coach them through not just their ministry but also their personal life. We help walk them through leading Bible studies, planning events, giving talks, managing their time, developing personal boundaries, managing personal finances, answering hard questions, and just loving and listening to students well. It’s a joy for us to be able to invest in their lives and watch God mature them personally and spiritually. These 35 staff are spread out at the universities around us: Clemson, Presbyterian College, Southern Wesleyan, Western Carolina, and Wofford College.
Ministry of evangelism and discipleship on the campus also continues to encourage us. It seems like every week or two, we hear news of a student coming to faith in Jesus. Most recently, a baseball player at Presbyterian College (PC) committed his life to following Jesus last week! He says the first time he ever heard the gospel was at the baseball team Bible study led by our campus staff at PC. He made his decision after a few weeks of attending the Bible study, hearing the gospel, and meeting and talking with not only our staff guy at PC but also an older student leader. Now he has committed to attending our upcoming New Year’s Conference in Greenville as a way to continue growing in his relationship with Jesus. Pray for his growth and more conversations about Jesus with the PC baseball team.
Also, please pray for students that are deciding in the next 2 weeks to attend the New Year’s Conference. That week over the holiday break can be a hugely impactful time for students as they grow in their relationship with Jesus and learn how to share that with their friends. We’re praying for over 150 to attend from our Greenville area schools, especially students like this baseball player who have been investigating or just beginning to grow in a relationship with Jesus this fall semester.
Blessings to you all this Thanksgiving week. May you be reminded of what a faithful God we serve. He is worth trusting and we love sharing that with college students.
