The Clow Communicator - July/August 2018

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40

Summer Teams: We are thankful to the teams who came and worked alongside of the ministries this summer.  We had four teams that joined us: one in June which I mentioned in the last newsletter.  We hosted two in July: a combined FL and GA team and an MTW medical team from all over the States.  In August we hosted a team from KS.  We so appreciate the Cains and the interns who took on the brunt of the hosting for this summer.

Peter Project: The summer teams spent time with the boys this summer and they loved it!  I think it was a big summer highlight for both the teams and the boys. The boys are half way through their school year (school year runs Feb-Nov).  WE ARE COMING TO THE END OF OUR MATCHING GRANT.  Last year we received a 1 to 1 $5,000 grant for the Peter Project. If you feel led, please donate and help us meet this goal. Click on the PP link below for prayer needs and to read more info on the boys and what they are doing. PP Facebook Page.

Door of Hope (PDE): Maritza had her baby!  There was some complications with high blood pressure that led to a c-section as well as a second short hospital stay after she was released to go home - but we are thankful that Maritza is recuperating and doing better.  She is a 16 year old adjusting to being a new mom in addition to the physical complications. Both Cindy and Belkis have welcomed Maritza into the home, and for the most part there is unity and harmony  as they live together.

Medical Ministry: STILL WAITING - it's a frustrating theme that stays with us.  Paper work, it's all a matter of paper work!  As we wait for the clinic to open, we are able to host some medical brigades.  We had a brigade in July with the MTW medical team.  They were in a different area of La Ceiba each day.  In August, a brigade was hosted up in the mountains where Angie, our nurse, has some connections.  This is always a highlighted brigade for our medical ministry staff.  The people in the mountains have so very little and the need is great.

Seminario Biblico La Ceiba (SBLC): The first-year seminary class is half way through their school year.  The students are in the first year levels of Theology and Biblical Comprehension.  Plans are in the works  - lots of prep going on for the start of the second year, as well as receiving new students for another 'freshman' class!

Tegucigalpa

Iglesia Presbiteriana Gracia Soberana (Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church) has Pastor Josue and family back in Honduras! After taking a few months to live in the States and study a seminary course, the Pinedas are back home and serving alongside the Halberts.  Below is the FB page address for the church.  It's in Spanish, but there is an option to click to see translation.  https://www.facebook.com/ipresgs/

Our Family

It was great being together for June. July came and scattered us all over.  Abigail served an intern in Belgium and Bek moved to NC where she started college.  Abigail was able to return to Honduras for a quick trip in July before returning to TX to start her second year of college.  The entire month of August found just Evan and I in Honduras while John and Josiah were in the States settling the girls, visiting churches and visiting colleges.  We are proud to announce that Josiah has been accepted to LeTourneau University, John's alma mater.  Now just to get some REALLY NEEDED scholarships to cover the costs!

Prayer Requests

Please pray that we would strive to love God with all our heart and soul so that we will be able to love and serve our team well.

Pray for the PDE girls; that they would grow to be good moms who love God first so that they can love their babies well.

Pray for the Peter Project boys; that they would become men with hearts like David's - striving to love the LORD their God.

Pray for the medical staff as they wait in patience for the needed government papers to open the clinic.

Pray for the seminary students as they study the Word; that it would be engrained in their hearts.

Pray for the growth of the church in Tegucigalpa.

Pray for our girls as they study in college; for a scholarship for Josiah; for Evan as he learns to be an only child.
