janders1Here I am with Clayton (an EKU student) and Rob. We talked Rob through the Gospel as we built a strong friendship. He loves basketball and now, frisbee.

Partners in the Gospel  One of the great pleasures from my recent time in East Asia was the partnership we had with local Cru staff members. These are devout believers  (and East Asia natives) who belong to house churches and spend their time building relationships with college students, as ministers of the Gospel.

Our team of American staff and students functioned under the local staff's authority. This setup allowed us to function well together, for the common goal of making disciples.

After spending time with college students for a period of 5 weeks, we were able to introduce our new collegiate friends to the local staff. Prayerfully, the Lord will open a door for strong friendships and the continual opportunity to discuss the Gospel together.

As for my American team, we grew in our practice of prayer and reliance on God's wisdom.

johnanders22 more students we got to know. We played alot of ping pong!

Here is my friend Graham. I ministered to him while in Chattanooga. Now he is on staff with Cru in East Asia, in a town  near where we were. It was very special to see him.

johnanders4Clayton and I with a local staff member. He and his team were so welcoming and hospitable. Enjoyed every second we had with them.

Prayer Requests

Thank you for your faithful prayers. Please pray:
   - for the local staff members, that they will continue to grow in their knowledge of God (Eph. 1:12-23)
   - for the students we got to meet, that the Lord will bring those who are His to salvation
  - for my American team, that we will continue here at home to strain for the Gospel with the strength God gives

Last, I pray your summer is a time of rejoicing in the Lord as you continue serving Christ. I pray that this hectic period (especially if you have kids) brings a strenghtned reliance on the Lord. Thank you for your partnership in God's glorious gospel, and I will continue to perform my role joyfully, seriously, and responsibly.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16).
