Roatan Mission Summer 2017 Update

MissionteamCoordinationchurchproject morinj1We have had a whirlwind summer and God has allowed us to witness and be a part of many needs both spiritual and physical being met through prayers, finances as well as 2 great teams and some families coming down to serve with us. Tish and Travis will often post ministry pictures and notes on Facebook, so please connect with us there and we hope you can come visit us! The island is in low season now and this means much less opportunity, less jobs and more need. Your continued thoughts, prayers and financial support mean the world to us and encourage us daily!

Medical Successes and Needs!

bb48142d-926f-4128-9bd9-560eb988c507morin j211 year old Mario (from dump ministry) received eye surgery on the mainland that saved his sight in one eye. He is currently needing surgery in the other eye on August 2nd or he will lose sight in that eye. Please pray for resources for helping with this need. He will have travel expenses to get back and forth from the mainland.

LIxsy, 4 years old, is continuing treatment for Leukemia and is pushing through this hard time. We have received some money to assist with her treatment and are praying for all her needs to be met and for a full recovery.

Pablo, one of our older gentlemen at the dump was blind in one eye and had cataracts in the other. He received cataract surgery this week thanks to your donations. The surgery was performed by a team of doctors from the states at Vessels of Mercy Clinic and is recovering well.

God has also allowed us to assist with two people going to drug and alcohol rehab on the mainland and one has already returned after coming to the Lord there. He is hoping to serve the Lord with his music on the island and is now free of the addictions that kept him chained for so many years!

Summer Teams and Current Projects

MissionTeam1 morin j3The Colonia church, Cristo Rey, has now been waterproofed with their second story. A ministry mission team from the

Hill Country Bible Church from Texas helped complete the second floor siding. Our Christ Covenant team helped move the siding material to the roof as well as planted flowering ground cover to reduce erosion on the hill. Pastor Rossel has over 40 children each Sunday, mentors kids through soccer and visits the prison weekly. Please continue to pray for the ministry here. Our next project is a set of stairs to the upper level and electrical wiring.

We were very thankful to have a mission team from our home church from Tennessee from Christ Covenant Church, their middle school and many adult volunteers assisted throughout the island.

How can you help?

We need your prayers, support and teams!

Current project needs for prayer, finances and mission teams include a school construction/ painting at the orphanage, projects at a church/hurricane shelter, sports and tutoring at Orphanage and Miss Deborah's school and construction and medical assistance at the local dump. We love seeing teams come to serve and we know that it always gives a broader understanding of God's kingdom.

We need your help to provide these and many more spiritual and physical needs and many more for 2017 and 2018. We can provide all the fliers, info and resources to organize a group to come down. Gather your family, some friends, a Sunday school or church and be a blessing to others as God changes your heart as well.

Always needed donations:   We are in need of solar lights, clothing, soccer uniforms, cleats and balls, shoes (sizes 6-10), first aid kits, hygiene kits and /or money to purchase these items on the island.

R Church

Our church in West Bay continues to grow and we are praying about space for the upcoming high season. Long term we are hoping to find land and build a church that can serve as a base for ministries throughout the week. All of Pastor Travis's sermons since August 2015 are now uploaded on iTunes. Click here to browse the messages in Genesis. Sermons on Ephesians are being uploaded this week.

Tish continues to see counseling clients and be on call for emergencies at Clinica Esperanza, does therapy at Sandy Bay Orphanage and leads the Ladies Bible study.

We promise you will love the taste and rich flavor! You can order online here.

Summer Camp and Missionary Care Available

Tish and all four kids attended the Missionary Kids high school camp in San Buenaventura in early June. Ella led worship and Tish worked in the kitchen with Jim & Teresa McNerlin and Joy Norton feeding 50 people. It was a treat to be up in the Honduran mountains where it can be in the 50's at night! Certainly different from island weather! Our oldest daughter Ella is on the island for the summer and working with Clinica Esperanza before starting college as a Pre-Med spanish Major at MTSU. Zach is working as a Divemaster and enjoying the new job! Eli and Heather are enjoying being out of school for the summer and keeping busy with friends and activities.

Our apartments at www.seascaperoatan.com are now open to provide respite for missionary families working in Honduras, mission teams and visiting families. It has been a joy to have several families who work full time in orphanages, schools and pastor training get the opportunity to come rest and enjoy family time. We help them find fun things to do here, fellowship with them and of course give them great coffee! If you would like to donate to sponsor a missionary who is in need of a break and/or counseling, you can do so and add "missionary care" in the note. All donations are tax deductible. Covering cost for a missionary family is only $40 per night.
