Lehman's Log - March 2016

Lehman1
Grandparents!
We celebrate the birth of Abigail Hope, David and Krista’s first child, and our first grandchild born on March 17. We are thankful for a successful delivery and a healthy baby. We pray this blessing from the Lord will grow to love the Lord with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength.

lehman2Mozambique Audit
Steve visited Mozambique, located on the southeast coast of Africa, in January to do a safety audit. Four families serve with MAF in Mozambique and another family (both husband and wife are MAF pilots) will arrive in June after completing Portuguese language school. A sight Steve has never seen in America is a termite mound like the one in the photo. It is well over 6 feet tall.

Safety Quality Seminar (SQS)
Twenty-five MAF field leadership attended SQS for several days in February. The purpose of SQS is to train them how to do their safety-related jobs, so the training is practical and hands-on. A field trip to do an airstrip inspection allows them the opportunity to identify hazards. In the classroom they learn how to determine effective corrective actions to reduce the risk of those hazards. Airstrip conditions are still one of MAF’s highest risks. In the photo to the left an attendee is using a "pogo" to test the how soft the surface is. A pogo is simply a pointed stick with a cross bar to stand on. This low-tech tool has proven useful in identifying soft spots that need repair.

Recruiting Teachers
lehman6

Teachers are at the top of our minds. MAF families serve in unique, and sometimes difficult places. The opportunity for their children to go to a school with dedicated and skilled teachers provides huge encouragement. This coming school year we urgently need two replacement teachers for our school in Kalimantan, a secondary Language arts or Social studies teacher in Papua, as well as an elementary teacher in Central Asia. Are you interested in serving or know someone who is? Please contact Recruiting via Crissie Rask: crask@maf.org

Ministry partners like you form the largest portion of the MAF team. Your faithful ministry support enables us to serve at headquarters, directly impacting the overseas ministry which transforms lives. Thank you for partnering with MAF and supporting the work through your prayers and financial giving.

Blessings,
Steve and Carol
