Opportunities to Serve

Below are some ways to serve in our church and in our community.   Sign up online.

CHURCHWIDE SERVICE WEEKEND:  Thursday, October 25th - Sunday, October 28th.  CLICK HERE for more!

THE GREETER MINISTRY is in need of several volunteers to help welcome our congregation and guests on Sunday mornings.  This is a simple yet vital ministry in the life of our church and can be an excellent opportunity to serve.  Please prayerfully consider if this is an area where you can volunteer! CLICK HERE to sign-up!

SUNDAY MORNING NURSERY AND PRESCHOOL needs volunteers. Our members are asked to serve just 1 service every 4-5 months, but help is always needed!  All that is necessary is a loving heart and a willingness to share God's love.  Contact Jan Doll at jdoll@christcov.org

ELEMENTARY CLASSES on Sunday mornings need shepherds and teachers. Shepherds are folks who help in a particular group and go with them each week into various rotation classes:  art, computer, video, Bible study, and drama.  No teaching is necessary, it's just a great way to build friendships with these kids.  Teachers have all lessons provided to them, so all that is needed is a love for children and the Bible. Contact Karen Trent at ktrent@christcov.org if you can serve in this ministry!

SUNDAY MORNING CAFE: we could use some more folks to help with our cafe.  The volunteers only serve approximately one Sunday every 4-6 weeks. Sign Up Here!

events web18 visitation min ed2VISITATION MINISTRY: if you have a heart for others who need visitation, please contact David Forbes or let us  know on the SIGN UP page as we are looking for individuals who are gifted in the area of reaching out to others who are in need of fellowship.

GOOD NEWS CLUB:
4 out of 5 children do not attend church on Sundays. With the After School Good News Club Ministry, we can reach these unchurched children and share the Good News of Jesus with them every week, right in the public school building! If you would like to learn more about getting involved in an After School Good News Clubs in this area, please contact ktrent@christcov.org.

COMPASSION/BACKPACK MINISTRY: From September through April we join Compassion Ministries to pack food for 130 Farragut Primary and Intermediate School students in need. On the 3rd Thursday of each month, we meet down the street at Cornerstone Church of God (where Compassion Ministries is housed) and package food that can be inconspicuously placed in student backpacks each Friday during the school year. Everyone is welcome to serve!

CHRISTMAS DELIVERY AT BLACK MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY: The Christmas delivery of toys, hygiene bags, clothing and food boxes to Black Mountain Elementary will be Friday, December 7. A coach bus is available to load at 6:00 a.m. with a departure time of 6:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per person and $25 maximum for a family. We will return at 5:00 p.m. You may sign up here.

CHRISTMAS CLOTHING DRIVE FOR BLACK MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY: The Christmas tree clothing tags are located in the front lobby. The trees are covered with more than 250 tags for boys and girls clothing needs. The clothing purchased are for the children of Black Mountain Elementary School in Harlan County, KY. Each child has 3 tags: coat & gloves; pants, shirt & underwear, and shoes & socks. Please select a tag from the girl or boy tree and sign your name at the table with your matching ornament number. Please return your gift, UNWRAPPED, in the bag provided by Sunday, December 2. Thank you for helping to extend the Hope of Jesus to these children!

IF YOU ARE RETIRED and have handyman skills, we can use your skills around the church for minor repairs and maintenance. Or, if you are able to create and manage a maintenance schedule for the church vans, we would love your help. Neither of these is a significant investment of time, but would be of great service to the Lord and your church.  Please sign up here.

SENIOR MEALS MINISTRY is a partnership of churches who take turns on Saturdays delivering lunches and making welfare checks for elderly and the disabled in West Knox County.
How You Can Help: Plan, shop, prepare, and/or deliver meals once a month.
Please contact Mark Mathews if you're able to help.

HELPING SINGLE MOTHERS-- It’s hard to be a single parent. A recent study by the Restoration House revealed that around 40% of Knox County families are led by single-parents. Would you like to get involved and help a mother and her children? Contact Pat Smith to help with this ministry.

SERVING THE HOMELESS– Want to learn more about how you can serve the homeless at Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries?  Contact David Forbes.

KAIROS TORCH Youth Prison Ministry at Mountain View Youth Development Center in Dandridge.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Jim Kamerman at 865-617-4639.

SUNDAY MORNING VIDEO DESK - once a month or less!  Basic computer knowledge is all that's necessary to run the slides on a Sunday morning as the programs we run are point and click. Contact Gabe Loving at gloving@christcov.org if you would be willing to serve once a month or so in this ministry.

USHERS:  Ushers are needed for the 9:30 and 10:50 a.m worshp services.  For more information, please contact Matt Wilkes.

THE WORSHIP CHOIR is open to new members HIGH SCHOOL and up!  Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm in the rehearsal hall, beginning August through early May.  The primary focus of the Worship Choir is to lead in worship on Sunday mornings, although they also present special programs during the year. The requirements are a love of music and the desire to worship God through singing. Contact Gabe Loving at gloving@christcov.org if you are interested in serving in this ministry.
