Finally Returning To Rwanda
With a New Course
July 28-Aug 12, 2022

After more than two years since Covid lockdowns I am preparing to teach three CCI conferences with a full teaching team for each country.  I will be in Africa for a total of three weeks.

The first two courses focus on "Relationships" taught first to the DRC pastors and then to the Kigali leaders. This is a new course that follows up from prior instruction on "God and Suffering."  Since the Genocide the first course brought much healing to the pastors and churches.  As one pastor said, "This was very painful for us, but for the first time we realized that our suffering was not for no reason."  A biblical perspective helped them to see God's purpose in suffering which furthered their healing process.

Since the genocide resulted in a million killings of neighbor on neighbor, broken relationships became a challenge.  Much progress has been made, but not much attention has been given to the routine struggles of marriage, family, and ongoing relational struggles.  This course will bring another chapter to their understanding of applying the Gospel in such challenges.  I will be joined by Dave Forbes (who has taught with me many times) along with a new ELI staff person, Barry Ogle.

The new course on relationships was just completed and I have sent it for translation into Kinyarwandan and Swahili.

Back to Uganda with Entirely New Ministry
Course: 1 Timothy and Leadership
Aug 13-19, 2022

The Lord also opened up an amazing opportunity through Merle Stoltzfus to begin training at Good Shephered's Fold in Jinja, Uganda.  This has been in the works for a long time, but intensified over the last several months.  I have taught over three conferences at GSF in Jinja which led to the current development.

The Lord has accomplished a partnership vision with GSF designed to invest in the pastors by beginning Certified Course Instructor training through 12 courses over the next two years at their facilities.  The goal is to produce a group of chosen pastors who will change churches and in turn also train their peer pastors in the region of Jinja and Lake Victoria.

The Father has brought together a team of four in the USA:  Merle Stoltzfus (Board Member with GSF) from Elverson, PA,  Landon Rowland from Boston, MA, Barry Ogle, ELI staff person from Atlanta, GA, along with myself, Joel McCall.

Weekly Zoom Teaching to Israel and Rwanda

Each week, I begin on Monday to meet with Micheal, an Israeli pastor whom I disciple and mentor in his church ministry. Then Tuesday mornings at 7AM I co-teach with Dave Forbes to Rwanda.  This is a ministry of instruction to Bishop Theophile Rugubira and two young men he has chosen as pastors.

I want to thank you, my partners in ministry who enable me through prayer and support to keep developing leaders for Jesus in Africa and Israel.  I thank the Lord for your faithfulness in making this not just possible but actual.

One final matter, as a result of inflation and the Ukrainian war, Africa is hit hard with food and fuel challenges.  I have been asking the team leaders in Uganda and Rwanda about their situation.  In Uganda, prices have gone up by 40% and Rwanda by 70% in the local areas.  This is a concern that we are laying before the Father. He is always able to provide for the needs.  The Lord loves His bride and wants to bless the believers.  We are looking to Him alone.

Please pray for:
 - Team Preparations and protection from Covid travel complications
 - Pastors to grasp and teach the CCI content to their peers
 - Successful Weekly Sessions with Israel and Africa
 - $3000 needed to cover Conference and Team Expenses
