During the past couple of months, the EKU staff team and I have been performing our summer assignments as ministers with Cru. This summer, due to Covid-19, we have had limited options in comparison to previous years, so my role has been taking online theological classes for my continued development. My favorite class thus far was Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics), growing in the careful study of God’s Word to understand what He has revealed, not what I or anyone wants the Bible to say. What did God reveal through the author? That’s the question that matters regarding interpretation. Here is a picture of our Zoom class (and a recent with my niece Abigail)!

I wanted to give you an update:  After much prayer the past month, combined with talking with my boss and friends at my church, I have decided to transition from a full-time to a part-time staff role with Cru (still at EKU, no major changes in roles, still doing men’s ministry.) Overall, the change is for the purpose of (hopefully) enrolling in the near future in an online theological seminary, perhaps RTS, while still serving in the areas that I love in regard to EKU. Another purpose is to work in a different context, gain experience there, and save some money for the future.

I never knew how the timing would potentially work out, as it has always been a desire with no details filled in, so to speak. With Covid-19 and university restrictions, it is likely this school year will be a combination of in-person and digital ministry, so it seemed like a good time to make a change. I still love the staff team here and ministering to the young men at EKU, which is why I am joyful to still be working here, just in a part-time capacity!

That being said, I would still very much appreciate it if you would continue to support me in this vital work. With your continued partnership, I will be able to serve and minister to our students in the areas in which God has gifted me, namely teaching God’s Word to young men. Regarding financial support, for a few months I have been teetering on an unhealthy level for a full-time staff member, but, with your continued support at current levels, I will be able to work at a healthy part-time level and perform the roles God has gifted me for.

By God’s grace, as Part-time Field Staff I will be focusing on the things that He has best equipped me for (ministering to young men and staff and helping build a godly culture among them) while being able to to prepare for future desires and endeavors.

In addition to working for Cru, I will be working at a company in Lexington, and prayerfully saving a bit for the future. Thank you so much for your ongoing partnership in the Gospel. Please let me know if you have any questions at all about this transition!
